Mindful Body-Centered Psychotherapy

Moving through life without the ability to enjoy and be present? Feeling disconnected from your moment to moment life experience due to overthinking, self-judgement and repetitive patterns? You are longing to discover what your pain wants to teach you and are willing to try a different approach?

Body-Centered Psychotherapy is a wonderful approach to tap into the wisdom of our moment-to-moment felt-sense. It has been said that the body is the portal to our unconscious. Rather than turning away from our pain we can allow all our thoughts, feelings, sensations and emotions to teach us about what is needed for  healing rather than simply reacting or disconnecting.

EMDR

PTSD and other disorders (unless physically or chemically based) result from past disturbing experiences that continue to cause distress because the memory was not adequately processed. These unprocessed memories are understood to contain the emotions, thoughts, beliefs and physical sensations that occurred at the time of the event. When the memories are triggered, these stored disturbing elements are re-experienced and cause the symptoms of PTSD and/or other disorders.

Unlike other treatments that focus on directly altering the emotions, thoughts and responses resulting from traumatic experiences, EMDR therapy focuses directly on the memory, and is intended to change the way that the memory is stored in the brain, thus reducing and eliminating the problematic symptoms.
